What CODEIT provides

  • A grade-level progression for K-8 computer science programming
  • Alignment with the Virginia Computer Science Standards of Learning
  • Scratch-based learning experiences
  • Connections between computer science and other academic subjects
  • Research-informed instructional strategies
  • Educator guidance and implementation support

Strengthen computational thinking across grades

CODEIT helps educators build programming experiences that develop computational thinking, creativity, problem-solving and coding proficiency over time. A clear progression can help students build on prior learning from grade to grade instead of encountering computer science as a series of disconnected activities.

Connect computer science across the curriculum

The framework supports interdisciplinary connections so educators can integrate computer science with core academic subjects and create meaningful opportunities for students to apply programming and computational thinking in different learning contexts.
